I was asked to join Marylanders to Prevent Gun Violence (MPGV) at its inception by a very well respected lobbyist and activist, not long after the tragic Newtown shootings in 2012. My role has been varied over the years, assisting with pretty much everything: strategy, technology, marketing and fundraising. In 2013, we passed some of the strongest gun violence prevention measures in the nation. Now, we work to defend it against legal attacks and to spread the word to other states about how effective these measures have been for Maryland.
On this campaign, I:Designed the MPGV logo, website and all collateral materials. Executed a new social media campaign that recruited several thousand supporters during the three months leading up to our bill being signed into law. Set up the CRM and built a list of more than 20,000 strong over just a few months. Responsible for all email campaigns, which has thus far generated thousands of messages to legislators and raised tens of thousands of dollars to fund our work.
